Formerly known as Camrose Electric Controls, Robinson Controls Inc. has been manufacturing quality controls since 1954. Robinson controls are guaranteed to be accurate, reliable and achieve long life in corrosive environments.

The automatic reset RS73WPM standard pressure switch is the company’s best-selling product. This style is also available in Manual Reset RS73WPM-LOR.

The ‘Camrose Electric Controls’ name is riveted into over 40,000 pressure controls in Western Canada alone. Many major oil companies in the United States, Australia, Russia & South East Asia use the Robinson Control because of its high quality and durability.

Manufacturing

Robinson Controls products are manufactured, assembled and tested in their own facility to include a wide variety of functions.  These controls are also able to operate alarms, starter relays, motors or other similar devices.

Robinson Controls function in a wide range of temperatures and pressures in a variety of process fluids. This makes Robinson Controls suitable for many different industries. They have been used for pipelines, refineries, well heads, oil processing, pulp & paper, and power plants to name a few.

Robinson Controls Inc. is an ISO 9001 registered company. All of the controls are CSA Class 1, Group C & D, and NRTL/C approved.  They are all certified for hazardous locations.

Our History

Camrose Electric Controls Ltd., now Robinson Controls Inc., has been in business for over a half of a century. The company was started in Camrose, Alberta, by Percy Robinson and a retired Esso engineer in 1954. They came up with the idea for a wellhead shutdown control, developed and field tested it. The product was ahead of its time. There were no regulations in place to use this type of switch. A few years later, Alberta was the first jurisdiction to bring in these regulations.

The company moved to Edmonton in 1968. With the oil boom in full swing, it was a changing factor for the company and the oil industry. It was in the early 1970s that the pressure controls were redesigned to handle high temperatures. This was especially important for wells where steam was induced to coax out heavy oil.

Camrose Electric Controls Ltd. has been a leader in it’s industry. Recently, improving their unique design on the outside adjustment feature has made the very reliable Robinson Pressure Control even better.

There are a lot of Robinson Pressure Controls still out in the field working, even after many decades.  Recently a 1956 pressure switch was sent in to be serviced. It was still in working order, but being 47 years old, we decided to keep the switch for posterity as it was one of the originals. The customer was sent a new pressure control in its place.
